HTC Launches AI-Powered Vive Eagle Smart Glasses
HTC has debuted the Vive Eagle, a lightweight, AI-enabled pair of smart glasses designed to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban offerings and signal HTC’s renewed push into AI wearables.
Key Features
Compact yet feature-rich: At under 49 grams with Zeiss sun lenses and a stylish transparent design, these glasses offer a sleek, modern look.
Multi-AI compatibility: Unlike Meta’s single-assistant model, Vive Eagle supports voice-activated interactions via Google Gemini or OpenAI’s ChatGPT using the prompt “Hey Vive.”
Stylish Build: Equipped with a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, open-ear speakers, and real-time translation for 13–14 languages including Arabic, Korean, Thai, and more, it enables hands-free photos, reminders, notes, and recommendations.
Privacy First: All data processing is local with AES-256 encryption. A built-in LED indicates recording and automatically disables recording when removed addressing growing concerns around smart eyewear privacy.
Robust Hardware & Long battery life
It has Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and Zeiss sun lenses. Offered in four translucent colors Berry, Coffee, Grey, and Black.
Quick charging up to 36 hours on standby, around 4.5 hours of music playback, with magnetic fast-charging 50% battery in just 10 minutes.
Pricing & Availability
Priced at NT$15,600 (~USD 520), it’s more expensive than Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta (~USD 299) but packs advanced AI and privacy features.
Available for pre-order now in Taiwan, with sales starting September 1st. Global launch dates remain unannounced.
