Norton Unveils Neo: An AI-Powered Browser with Built-in AI Assistant
Norton, a brand under Gen Digital Inc. has launched Neo, a browser with a built-in AI assistant now available in early access in the US.
Neo integrates artificial intelligence with Norton’s cybersecurity expertise to offer a more secure and intelligent web browsing experience.
Key features of Neo Browser
AI-Powered Personal Assistant: Neo includes a built-in AI assistant that learns user preferences to deliver relevant content proactively.
This assistant utilizes a feature called the “Magic Box,” replacing the traditional search bar with a unified interface for search, chat, and task execution.
Instant Answer : Combining search functionality with conversational AI, Neo aims to provide instant answers, reducing the need to sift through multiple search results not endless links.
Smart Tab Management: Neo introduces a “tabless browsing” system that automatically organizes and collapses tabs to reduce overload, based on user behavior, aiming to enhance productivity.
Enhanced Security Measures: Neo incorporates Norton WebShield, an AI-driven Safe URL Detection System that scans for phishing, malware, and deceptive sites.
Additionally, the browser features built-in ad and tracker blocking to enhance privacy.
Norton says “it won’t use user data to train its AI. “Any AI-driven features that require content analysis are either processed locally or securely in the cloud, with users permission.”
Supports Major Browsers: Neo supports “most” Chrome extensions, and you can import bookmarks, saved passwords, and browsing history from Chrome, Firefox, or Edge during setup or later in settings.
Availability
The early access version of Norton Neo is currently available to users in the United States on Windows and macOS platforms.
An iOS version is reportedly in development.
It’s free right now, but Norton notes it may “introduce optional premium features later.
