Figure AI Introduces Figure 03: New Humanoid Robot

Figure AI revealed its third-generation humanoid robot, Figure 03, in a major step toward bringing intelligent robots into homes and workplaces.

The company says this model is built for mass production and real-world use, potentially making it one of the first commercially viable home assistant robots.

What Figure 03 Can Do

In demonstration videos released by Figure AI, the robot handles typical household chores: folding clothes, washing dishes, clearing tables, serving food, watering plants, and tidying rooms.

It even carries cups and plates from a living room to a kitchen sink for washing. The robot navigates home environments autonomously.

Figure 03 uses its Helix AI system to learn in real-time from human demonstrations. Instead of following fixed scripts, it observes actions and reproduces them, adjusting when environments change.

Technical Specs & Design

Size & weight: It stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall (≈167 cm) and weighs 132 pounds (≈60 kg), ~9% lighter than its predecessor.

Payload: It can carry up to 44 pounds.

Battery & charging: It operates up to 5 hours, and recharges via wireless inductive charging. It steps onto a charging pad and powers up.

Vision & sensing: Cameras deliver double the frame rate, ~4× lower latency, and a 60% wider field of view versus older models. Each hand has palm cameras for close-up views.

Tactile hands: The fingertips have sensors that detect forces as low as 3 grams (comparable to a paperclip). This lets the robot adjust grip so objects don’t slip. Soft, adaptive fingertips help it pick up many shapes.

Key Features

The Helix AI System

Helix is the “brain” behind Figure 03, combining vision, language, and action. Rather than relying on external AI models, Figure AI built Helix in-house.

It learns new tasks from under 100 hours of video — for example, folding towels.

The robot supports 10 Gbps offload, so large volumes of sensor and performance data can be uploaded for continuous improvement.

Safety & Home Use Design

Because robots in homes must be safe, Figure 03 includes many design features for human environments:

  • Soft, removable, washable textiles cover its frame, instead of exposed hard parts.
  • Foam padding and safe materials at joints to reduce pinch risk.
  • Textiles are tool-free to replace, allowing customization for home or commercial use.

Communication Upgrades

The robot’s audio system is significantly better:

  • Speaker is twice the size and nearly four times more powerful than older models.
  • Microphones are repositioned for clearer understanding of speech.
  • Supports real-time speech-to-speech interaction, enabling more fluid conversations.

Mass Production Strategy

Figure 03 is the first robot from Figure AI explicitly designed for high-volume production, not just as a prototype.

Parts are made using injection molding and die casting, making them ~90% cheaper than previous designs.

The new manufacturing facility, BotQ, is based in San Jose. It’s planned to produce 12,000 units annually, scaling toward 100,000 over four years.

Figure AI even plans to use Figure 03 robots on its own production line.

Commercial & Industrial Use

Though aimed for home use, many capabilities apply to industry:

Actuators are faster and offer better torque, useful for warehouse and manufacturing tasks.

Earlier versions (Figure 02) are already used at BMW’s factories, where they work shifts lifting parts.

Improvements in hand sensitivity make 03 more adept at handling varied materials, including flexible packaging and metal parts.

Pricing, Availability

Figure AI hasn’t released a final price or consumer release date. Industry observers estimate each unit may cost $20,000 to $30,000.

The company’s focus is on enterprise customers first; consumer rollout may come in 2026. CEO Brett Adcock says full autonomous household operation is a target for the near future.

Figure AI aims to ship 100,000 robots over the next four years, starting in commercial spaces and later expanding to homes.

News Gist

Figure AI has unveiled Figure 03, its first mass-producible humanoid robot built for homes and workplaces.

Powered by the Helix AI system, Figure 03 performs real-world chores, learns from human demonstrations, and features tactile sensors, safety padding, and advanced communication systems for everyday use.
