Telegram Partners with xAI to Launch Grok AI Assistant
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced a one-year partnership with Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI.
As part of the deal, xAI will invest $300 million in cash and equity to bring its AI assistant, Grok, into the Telegram app.
Grok Features in Telegram
Grok will be available through Telegram’s search bar and offer several AI-powered tools such as:
- Threaded conversations
- Smart text editing
- Chat summaries
- Document digests
- Group chat moderation
These tools aim to make messaging smoother and more efficient for users.
Revenue Sharing and Privacy
Telegram will get 50% of the revenue from Grok subscriptions sold through the app.
Both companies have assured users that Grok will only use the data explicitly shared during interactions. This is to protect user privacy while still allowing xAI to improve its technology.
Why This Matters for xAI
With access to Telegram’s massive global user base, xAI can collect valuable conversational data to train its AI models.
As traditional training data becomes scarce, user-generated conversations are now key for AI development.
However, it’s still unclear if xAI will use Telegram data in the same way it uses public posts on X (formerly Twitter), which it also owns.
A Big Step for xAI’s Growth
This partnership reflects xAI’s broader plan to expand in AI infrastructure and services.
After acquiring X and forming other major deals, this move with Telegram could give xAI a major boost in developing smarter, more interactive AI tools.
News Gist
xAI will invest $300M to integrate its AI assistant Grok into Telegram for one year. Grok will offer smart chat features, with Telegram earning 50% subscription revenue.
User data shared with Grok may help improve xAI’s AI models.
