The Browser Company Launches AI-First Browser “Dia” in Beta

The Browser Company, known for its Arc browser, is now rolling out Dia, its next-gen AI-powered browser.

Dia has a simple, easy-to-use interface. It’s built on Chromium—the same technology behind Google Chrome—so it looks and feels familiar to most users.

Key Features

AI assistant in every tab: Dia can search the web, summarize uploaded files, and seamlessly switch between chat and search.

Users can ask questions about open tabs, and the AI can even draft content based on them.

Natural language omnibox and Skills: Type commands like “find document X and email it,” and Dia performs them. Advanced automation (“Skills”) lets users construct browser shortcuts.

Privacy-first design: User data stays local by default, with optional opt-in for browsing history, supporting personalized yet secure AI responses .

Why It Matters

AI-native environment: Dia shifts away from traditional browsers, baking AI into its core UI instead of treating it as an add-on.

Learning from Arc: Unlike Arc’s steep learning curve, Dia emphasizes familiarity (Chromium base) to drive adoption while integrating intelligence.

Availability

Dia is currently available in beta through an invitation-only rollout, with early access prioritized for existing Arc users.

A broader public release is planned in the future, including support for Windows and additional user interface enhancements.
